Großen Seen und Klöstern

The central and far northern of Mongolia is a remote and unique geographical area with a population of nomadic people equally as interesting and diverse as the land they inhabit. The landscape includes high mountain peaks, large lake basins, steppe grassland and desert sand-dunes. One of the main minority groups in this area is the Reindeer herder minority, who are as well the smallest one in Mongolia. Still maintaining their traditional customs and traditions, they live in tipis.

Day 1

Amarbayasgalant monastery

We will depart in our expedition vehicles for Amarbayasgalant which is located 350 km in the north of Ulaanbaatar. Once reaching you will visit the monastery. It is one of the most beautiful monasteries (built 1727-1736) in the country. Overnight at ger camp.


Day 2

Bulgan

After breakfast we drive to Bulgan province. The journey will take about maximum 7 hours. On the way you will stop over in Erdenet town which is the second biggest city in Mongolia after Ulaanbaatar. Optional little sightseeing in the copper mining town. Continue driving towards Bulgan aimag. Stay over night in ger camp in the area.


Day 3

Ikh-Uul

Today we will continue driving towards Ikh-Uul: drive past Khutag-Ondor into Namnan valley. Overnight at the ger camp.


Days 4-5

Blue pearl Khuvsgul lake

Drive to Khuvsgul lake which is called the pearl of Mongolia and also is known as Mongolian Switzerland. This is the land of tall evergreen trees, crystal clear lakes, icy streams and incredibly green grass. Khuvsgul Lake is linked to the Baikal Lake in Siberia, the world deepest (1500m), largest in terms of water volume. Two days at the lake. Hiking, horse riding, mountain climbing, kayaking opportunities or fishing. We stay two days in the ger camp just beside the lake.


Day 6

Uushgiin-Uvur, ancient Deer stone site

Leisurely morning at the lake. After lunch we we will drive back to Murun, on the way you will do short stop at reindeer stone. Overnight at a ger camp in the area.


Day 7

Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur or the White lake

Today we continue to drive towards Terkhiin White lake passing through Jargalant soum and Orookh’s passing and reach to the White lake. We stay in ger camp.


Day 8

Khorgo volcano

Day of leisure at the lake. Day trip to Khorgo (2240m) the National Park. It is an extinguished volcano and home for many wild animals and birds. Nice place to hike. Return to the camp.


Day 9

Tsetserleg

Drive to Tsetserleg the provincial centre of Arhangai aimag. In Tsetserleg we will have a chance to visit enlightened Zaya's monastery. Also optional visit to local museum. Then continue driving to Tsenkher hot spring and stay over night in a ger camp.


Day 10

Kharhorin

Drive to Kharhorin.On the way we will visit to the ruins of old Uigur capital (9th century) and Turkish statues (8the century) and then continue to Kharhorin, the ancient capital of Mongol Empire. Once reaching the town visit to the Erdenezuu Monastery. Stay in ger camp near the town.


Day 11

Khustai Nationalpark and Ulaanbaatar

Drive to Khustain Nuruu National Park. It is nice mountain which homes famous Prejevalsky wild horses since 1992. On arrival you can visit a small information centre which introduces to the project and also can have a guided hike in the park. After dinner we drive to Ulaanbaatar.

Falls eine Einzelunterbringung in den Gercamps nicht gegeben war, wird der Betrag anhand derer Übernachtungen berechnet und Ihnen zurück erstattet. Nomads ist nicht für Überbuchungen verantwortlich zu machen, solang die Firma anhand hinreichender Unterlagen beweisen kann, dass dies der Fehler einer anderen Firma war.

Sollten unberechenbare Umstände sowie Quarantäneverhängungen, Änderungen des hiesigen Flug- oder Zugplanes eine Änderung der Reise bedeuten, werden wir Ihren Reisevermittler kontaktieren und eine equivalente Route vorschlagen. Erneut, Nomads kann nicht die Verantwortung fuer die nationale Flug- oder die Eisenbahngesellschaft übernehmen.

Der Reisende ist selbst dafür verantwortlich, gültige Reisedokumente, sowie einen gültigen Reisepass, Visum und Passfotos, zu besitzen.
