Mountain Biking in Mongolia


Day 1

Fly to Bayankhongor, drive to Shargaljuut hot spring: We will take morning flight to Bayankhongor through Arvaikheer and will reach to Bayankhongor at 11:15 am. On arrival at the desert airstrip you will be taken to camp at Shargaljuut, the large mineral hotsprings, located 60 km to the north-east of Bayankhongor town, on the bank of the Shargaljuut River (2000m) Shargaljuut has more than 300 mineral water sprouts and sources with water temperatures of +45 to +96 degrees celcius. The springs have been a source of natural healing for Mongolians for centuries.

Day 2

Bike to Khukh river:This morning after a relaxed breakfast we will start our bike trip crossing a river and reach to Nariin jalga valley (2712 m above the sea level) after 14 kms of riding. Loose soil so bit difficult to ride then we will reach Elbekh pass (2712 m above the sea level), the road is pretty much up and down and is tough (very solid) and with loose stones. We will have our picnic lunch at the top of Elbekh pass and continue to ride down to toward Khukh river. The water of Khukh river is fresh and clean.

Day 3

Bike to Mt. Bayanzurkh: After breakfast we will start riding towards Mt. Bayanzurkh and gradually ascend. The road is tough with stones and bumpy. Be careful when you descend.

Day 4

Bike to Orkhon Waterfall: gradually descending from the pass you will reach Orkhon river cross. You should push your bike to cross the Orkhon river. From here Ulaantsutgalan waterfall is 22 km. At this area of Orkhon valley volcano lava is spread all around. Today we'll camp at waterfall.

Day 5

Bike to Karakorum: Starting from the waterfall early in the morning and crossing the Orkhon river on cross turn left side. Bike 95 km on bumpy road. Road is generally smooth, though soil road and is sandy with loose stones at lowlands. Karakorum the ancient capital of Mongolia and from where Ghengis Khan launched his cavalry (90 km) There is a small local township there now. On arrival the first and most obvious landmark is the massive walls of the Erdnezuu Monastery. This Monastery was built in the 1586 and is surrounded by a massive 400m x 400m wall. Not a single nail was used in the construction of the ornate temples, only a few of which remain standing after the communist purges. In previous times the grounds held over 60 temples with 10000 monks using them for their daily worship. You will visit this Monastery and make camp 10km before at the riverside of Orkhon.

Day 6

Bike to Ugii lake: Riding towards Ugii lake ride through diiferent up and downhills. Road is generally, smooth. As soon as you see the lake you all will probably jump into it!

Day 7

Drive to Ulaanbaatar: Today will be a drive, on paved roads, back to the capital.

Falls eine Einzelunterbringung in den Gercamps nicht gegeben war, wird der Betrag anhand derer Übernachtungen berechnet und Ihnen zurück erstattet. Nomads ist nicht für Überbuchungen verantwortlich zu machen, solang die Firma anhand hinreichender Unterlagen beweisen kann, dass dies der Fehler einer anderen Firma war.

Sollten unberechenbare Umstände sowie Quarantäneverhängungen, Änderungen des hiesigen Flug- oder Zugplanes eine Änderung der Reise bedeuten, werden wir Ihren Reisevermittler kontaktieren und eine equivalente Route vorschlagen. Erneut, Nomads kann nicht die Verantwortung fuer die nationale Flug- oder die Eisenbahngesellschaft übernehmen.

Der Reisende ist selbst dafür verantwortlich, gültige Reisedokumente, sowie einen gültigen Reisepass, Visum und Passfotos, zu besitzen.
